Project concept initiated in 2014 after Lord Dolar Popat approached Guruhari Sahebji. Government enquiry in 2015 prompted by Lord Jitesh Gadhia to look into provision of Crematoria facilities for Hindus.

Results of consultation above concluded in 2019 that there was lack of suitable facilities in areas of high Hindu, Sikh and Jain populations.

Guruhari Sahebji assigned responsibility to Pujya Satishbhai Chatwani, International President of Anoopam Mission, alongside Pujya Himat Swami and Trustees of Anoopam Mission UK (AMUK).

Planning Application was first refused by the Buckingham District Council due to the land being situated in the Green Belt. An appeal was launched and an online hearing date was granted in July 2021, with Lord Jitesh Gadhia and MP Bob Blackman providing excellent opening support statements. However, the Hearing was postponed until 16th November 2021.

The postponed Hearing was hosted in person and the Council accepted that the need for the crematorium was much greater than the perceived harm to the Green Belt.

Planning decision in favour of AMUK crematorium project was published on 16th December 2021.

Having received the landmark planning decision to build a state-of-the-art crematorium named “AUM” on its grounds in Denham, Buckinghamshire, Anoopam Mission UK initiated the first step with a Vedic ritual – the Ground-Breaking Ceremony on Friday 15 July 2022, in the presence of Guruhari Param Pujya Sahebji, the spiritual head of Anoopam Mission. This was a historic and momentous achievement for the Indian community in the UK. “AUM” will be the first ever purpose-built dedicated crematorium in the UK and Europe to cater to the needs of the Hindu, Jain and Sikh communities.

Numerous representatives from Hindu, Jain and Sikh faith and community organisations, business leaders and members of the community joined the ceremony, the first step towards the fulfilment of a long-awaited need.

A ‘Briefing and Consultation’ meeting for the AUM Crematorium project was hosted on Saturday 30 July 2022.

The proposed development was explained in detail and questions and views requested from the audience. Everyone was requested to engage in the project and to pass on the details to all their contacts.

The AUM Crematorium website Home page was launched by Guruhari Sahebji at the event.

The AUM Crematorium Foundation Stone ceremony was held on Wednesday 31st August 2022. The ceremony was hosted at Anoopam Mission in the divine presence of Guruhari Sant Bhagwant Sahebji, and presided over by the Chief Guest Shri Gopichand Hinduja. 111 couples sat in the pooja for the ceremony.

On Sunday 27th August 2023, building work for the first ever crematorium for the Hindu, Jain and Sikh communities began in the precense of Guruhari Sant Bhagwant Pujya Sahebji Maharaj at Anoopam Mission, Denham, UK.
